Researchers from UFOP Letters Department Present Seminar in France

Article produced by Stanley de Oliveira and published on UFOP's official website.

Professors Ada Brasileiro and Viviane Pimenta, from UFOP Letters Department, presented a seminar on Monday (20) at the University of Lorraine, in the city of Nancy, France. The presentation was entitled “What Does a Teacher Do? The Need to Name Teachers’ Invisible Work.”

Ada highlighted the positive reception of the research. According to her, the concept of invisible work was very well-accepted by researchers in the French university.

Developed as part of Professor Ada’s postdoctoral fellowship, the seminar is the result of a research project that began in 2018. The study aims to identify and describe the use of language as a tool employed by teachers in the transmission of knowledge. In addition, the research emphasizes the importance of valuing and recognizing the teaching profession.

“For us, who came to carry out a comparative analysis of teachers’ work in Brazil and France, this was a highly symbolic moment of exchange, representing the recognition of Brazilian research work within the French academic environment,” Ada emphasized.
