Student Dalyson dos Santos Oliveira took part in a 15-day exchange at Agostinho Neto University in Luanda, Angola. Caminhos Amefricanos initiative brought together 50 undergraduate students to exchange knowledge among Global South institutions.
For Dalyson, the most striking moment was the meeting at the Union of Angolan Writers (UEA), which brought together important names in the training of students: "Being in the same place as authors such as Pepetela, Boaventura Cardoso, José Luís Mendonça, Maria Celestina Fernandes, Domingas Monte, Cremilda de Lima, Fuxi de Lemos was a highly symbolic event for me". He also highlights the opportunity to dialogue about pedagogical practices to combat racism as enriching for his future work as a primary school teacher.
The student is part of the “Africas in Transit” extension project and participates in congresses presenting works on African literature. He evaluates that this experience dialogues with his academic trajectory and encourages more students to participate in the Program as a complementary training.
CAMINHOS AMEFRICANOS - The Program is carried out in partnership with the Brazilian Ministry of Racial Equality (Mir), the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, in Peru, the Agostinho Neto University, in Angola, and the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO), in the Dominican Republic. It aims to stimulate the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and public policies that contribute to fight against racism in Brazil and promote the knowledge of African History and Culture and the African Diaspora. The idea is to develop the Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations, enabling the implementation of short-term international exchange actions.
