Interinstitutional Doctorate in Education encourages internationalization in UFOP

The Graduate Program in Education (PPGE) in UFOP, through a partnership with the University of San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC), improved its internationalization process with the approval, on March 17, of the International Interinstitutional Doctorate (DINTER) by CAPES*. The objective is to promote teacher training in the Secondary Education Teacher Training School (EFPEM-USAC), strengthen research lines and boost academic production among institutions.

DINTER provides an opportunity for exchange, knowledge and experience between Brazil and Guatemala. The initiative was conceived and implemented by the deputy coordinator of the PPGE, José Rubens Lima Jardilino, who works with the professors of EFPEM-USAC to expand international partnerships and encourage joint academic research in both Universities.

According to the coordinator of PPGE, João Quadros, in an interview for the Program website, a "project like this helps to enhance the Program internationalization process", opening doors to improve its qualification with CAPES "to reach the much-desired grade 6". He also highlights the importance of the project for strengthening academic and diplomatic relations between Brazil and Guatemala.

The EFPEM-USAC representative in the project, Óscar Hugo López Rivas, states that "the approval of DINTER is a special achievement, because it will transcend the training of professionals who will later implement the doctoral program at our school". He adds that this partnership "is a gift that UFOP offers to Guatemala, from which many generations will benefit."

DINTER activities are set to begin in the second half of 2025. The selection process will be announced soon.
