Last Thursday (19) the International Relations Office (DRI) of the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP)  welcomed graduate students from different countries. A total of 18 students participated in person in the welcome event. Vice-rector Roberta Fróes was present at the meeting.

Held in the Rectory building, the meeting reinforced the importance of cultural exchanges and knowledge sharing among students. The exchange students become part of the institution's graduate student body, contributing to the strengthening of UFOP's internationalization.

During the reception, the vice-rector highlighted the relevance of the arrival of students to strengthen the internationalization of the institution. "UFOP has undergone an expansion in recent years, with the opening of new campuses and eventually the increase in the number of students. Your presence here further strengthens this growth, consolidating the institution’s reach, both nationally and internationally", she pointed out.

Besides guidelines on the structure of the university, documentation, rules and  regulations of graduate programs, students received practical information about the city, such as public transportation, businesses opening hours and essential services.

UFOP is associated with the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), through which it develops different academic mobility programs. The students welcomed are part of the initiative. This semester, 25 new students have arrived for the University graduate programs, coming from Angola, Colombia, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Tanzania. In total, 218 international students are enrolled in UFOP programs.
