Following the Cultural Calendar of 2024, the Welcome Project organized a trip to Lavras Novas. A total of 57 students from different countries participated, including Angola, Argentina, Cameroon, Colombia, Cuba, Chile, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Republic of the Congo, Romania, Russia, Timor-Leste, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Venezuela.
The activity consisted of a visit to one of Ouro Preto’s districts (areas in the countryside). Known for being a tourist destination, Lavras Novas is famous for its colorful houses, beautiful landscapes, and waterfalls. The students were able to visit three of the most well known waterfalls: Pocinhos Waterfall, Três Pingos Waterfall and Namorados Waterfall.
As there were many applications, the group was divided into two, so they could enjoy the beauty of Lavras Novas. They had the opportunity to experience unique moments, appreciate the beautiful landscapes of Minas Gerais, and share enjoyable and relaxing moments, exchanging cultures among themselves and with the local villagers.
