Professors from the Université Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (France) visit UFOP

From November 4th to 11th, 2023, the International Relations Office (DRI) welcomed Professors Damien Prim and Delphine Joseph from the Université Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (France) for a visit to UFOP and the city of Ouro Preto. Damien and Delphine were received by UFOP Director of the International Relations Office, Anderson Gamarano, and by Professors Liliane Catone Soares, Leandro Vinicius Alves, and Laurent Frederic Gil.

The purpose of the visit was to promote discussions on common research themes and  address three lectures for the academic community in UFOP. Around 90 students from various programs attended the activities.

The UFOP professors involved in these activities reported that receiving the researchers was an  enriching and productive experience, both personally and professionally. The visit allowed the dissemination of the scientific work carried out by the research groups to the UFOP academic community and the exchange of experiences concerning research and undergraduate and graduate teaching issues in both institutions.

For Liliane, Leandro, and Laurent, the visit of renowned foreign researchers such as Dr. Prim and Dr. Joseph contributes significantly to the internationalization of UFOP. For them, internationalization stimulates UFOP researchers to place themselves in the current competitive scenario of international scientific research. Investment in internationalization is one of the actions of the GFQO research group (Organic Physical Chemistry Group) to meet its goal of excellence and continuous evolution.

The group has already sent graduate students to the Université Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines D'Alès, both in France, and to the Technical University of Denmark. Through the IAESTE program and the support of DRI/UFOP, the professors have already had the opportunity to supervise students from Argentina, Bolivia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
