On 23rd November 2023, Dr. Leandro Vinícius Alves Gurgel, from the Department of Chemistry in UFOP, presented the lecture entitled "Using biomass for a sustainable future: water and energy security" in the Journée Scientifique Paris-Saclay, held in the Université Paris-Saclay, France. The event was organized by Professor Dr. Damien Prim, Dean of the Graduate School Chimie of Université Paris-Saclay, with the participation of Professor Dr. Liliane Catone Soares, from the Department of Chemistry in UFOP, and Dr. Fernanda Jorge Gonçalves, from the Department of Chemistry in UEMG.
The four researchers are members of the project entitled "New biomass-based catalysts for coumarin synthesis and glycerol oxidation", coordinated by Professor Dr. Leandro Gurgel, under the French Committee for the Evaluation of University Cooperation with Brazil (CAPES/COFECUB) program.
This project is the result of an international collaboration among professors Dr. Laurent Gil, Dr. Leandro Gurgel, and Dr. Damien Prim, started in 2014, under the Science without Borders program. This collaboration has already promoted the exchange of graduate students and researchers, and the publication of articles in international journals with a high impact factor.
